Ekambareswarar Temple is one of the
famous Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva.The temple covers an area of over
40 acres. Reaching a height of 57 meters, the temple's Raja gopuram (the
entrance tower to the temple) is one of the tallest in South India and was
built by the Vijayanagar King, Krishnadevaraya.One notable feature of the temple
is the Aayiram Kaal Mandapam, or the 'hallway with a thousand pillars', which
was built by the Vijayanagar Kings. The temple's inner walls are decorated with
an array of 1,008 Siva lingams.The sthala-virutcham is a 3,500 year old mango
tree whose branches are said to yield four different types of mangoes.
The Kailasanath temple is located in
the temple town of Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu, India. It was built by the
Pallavas in the early 8th century CE. It is famous for its splendid vimana. It
also contains numerous panels showing lord Siva as Nataraja in various
postures.This temple was built by Pallava King Narasimhavarman II (Rajasimhan).
The Chola King Rajaraja Chola I visited this temple and named this temple as
kachipettu periya thirukatrali(Stone Tenple of Kachipettu(ancient name of
kanchipuram).It is believed by many archeologists that this kailasanathar
temple must be the inspiration for Rajaraja Chola I to built the Tanjore
Rajarajeeswaram temple.
Also known as Mahabalipuram. It was
a flourishing port town during the time of Pallavas. This is one of the main
tourist places in kanchipuram. The monuments of Mamallapuram are excellent
specimen of Dravidian temple architecture and Pallava art. The group of
sculptures in Mamallapuram are listed out by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites.

Kanchipuram, Kanchi, or Kancheepuram
is a city and a municipality in Kanchipuram district in the Indian state of
Tamil Nadu. It is a temple town and the headquarters of Kanchipuram district.
In ancient times it was called Kachi and Kachiampathi. Kanchipuram is located
on the Palar River, and known for its temples and silk sarees. There are
several big temples, like Varadharaja Perumal Temple for Lord Vishnu.
It is one of the major Water Bird
Sanctuaries in India, 48 km from Kanchipuram. Storks, Egrets, Cormorants,
Darter, Flamingos, Pelicans, moor hens, herons, kingfishers, sandpipers, white
ibis, spoonbills, swans and grey wagtails are some of the birds which arrive
here during season. The best time to visit is between October and March, when a
large number of migratory birds visit. The birds can be viewed from the bank or
from the watch tower.
