Krishna Menon Museum
The Krishna Menon Museum, dedicated to the great Indian leader V.K Krishnan, who was the spokesperson for India at the General Assembly of the UN, has a section in honor where personal belongings and souvenirs presenAQZAted to him by great national and international leaders and friends are exhibited here. A collection of stone sculptures, murals, and original oil paintings of renowned maestro Raja Ravi Varma and Raja Rama Varma are at display.
Malabar Mahotsavam
Malabar Mahotsavam is a cultural show that showcases the centuries-old rich cultural heritage of Kerala, the purpose of which is to infuse new life into the traditional art forms like Theyyam, Kalaripayattu, and to encourage the local artists. The festival is divided into many sections - classical dance, classical music, traditional and folk arts, drama, literary, ganamela, etc. The event is held at Mananchira maidan in the heart of Kozhikode town from 13th to 16th January every year.
Pazhassiraja Museum
Pazhassiraja Museum, located at East Hill about 5 km from Kozhikode, is run by the State Archaeological Department and has various mural paintings, antique bronze, ancient coins, models of temples, umbrella stones, dolmenoid cists, and similar megalithic monuments on display. This museum was previously known as East Hill Bungalow.
Tali Temple
The Tali Temple is located downtown Kozhikode and is an important temple dating back to the former Zamorin kingdom of Kozhikode. The temple is known to have suffered destruction at the hands of Tipu Sultan and Hyder Ali but was renovated in the 18th century. The temple is famous for the 'Revathi Pattathanam', an annual competition of pedagogic skills that draws a number of pilgrims.
Dolphin's Point
Just a few kilometers from the city center is the Dolphin's Point, where you can spot dolphins playing in the sea. The long tree-lined beach, about 2 km away, is popular with the local people because of the Lions Club Park, the lighthouse, and the two piers.
Mananchira Square
Mananchira Square, a park located in the heart of the Kozhikode town, is a modification of the concept of a planned modern city. The historic maithan next to Mananchira has been converted into an arcadia with beautiful plants and trees, artificial hill, shrubs, an open air theatre, and a musical fountain. It is an ideal point for locals and tourists who are looking for some solitary pleasure, away from the hodge-podge of noisy cities.
Thikkoti Lighthouse
Thikkoti lighthouse, which overlooks Velliyamkallu off the moodadi coast, is an important attraction of Kozhikode and was built after a shipwreck, the remains of which can still be seen here. The region around the Velliyamkallu rock is the transit home for migratory birds.
Mahe
Mahe is an attractively old-fashioned town located 58 km north of Kozhikode, intersected by River Mahe. The town has a distinct French flavor which is not lost till date. It was earlier known as Mayyazhi but was named after "Mahe", a Frenchman who captured it. Those willing to learn fine arts forms like dance, music, sculpting, yoga, and meditation can come to the Malayalam Kalagramam in Mahe. St. Teresa's Church, one of the oldest churches in the Malabar region, is another destination that you can visit.
